WWEA Opening Evening 2012

Year 6 Parents get a taste of West Walsall E-ACT Academy at Opening Evening 2012

On Thursday night, (27.09.12) prospective Year 7 students and their parents got their first taste of West Walsall E-ACT Academy.

And what a great taste it was!

After a welcome presentation by Principle, Mr Hubble, parents and prospective students were shown around the school by a variety of current students, ranging from Year 8 students to 6th Formers, showing them a wide variety of activities and subjects their children may be involved in if they attend the Academy starting September 2013.

They had the chance to visit all the different areas of the Academy, experiencing various interesting and engaging activities in the multiple subject zones.

In Science, parents and future students got to create their own sparkler and witness a hair-raising (quite literally!) practical experiment.

In the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) department, our guests were invited to enjoy the French delicacies available in ‘Café Paris’, whilst listening to students describe each of the items of food available in French.

Over in the Design and Technology department, our visitors got to experience the interesting 3D models students have been producing with CAD (Computer Aided Design) and the chance to test the electrical circuits Year 9 students have been assembling in their lessons.

The evening was deemed a great success, with plenty of smiles on the faces of our upcoming students and with parents knowing all they needed to know about West Walsall E-ACT Academy.
