Student Parliament takes on the Palaces of Westminster

Last Friday, members of the Academy’s inaugural Student Parliament enjoyed privileged access to the Palaces of Westminster, on a tour generously sponsored by Valerie Vaz MP. The
Parliament members were given the inside story on the country’s bustling corridors of power, expertly narrated by our charismatic guide, Philip.

Having soaked up the traditions and history of both Houses, we enjoyed a sun-splashed picnic in St. James’ Park before heading on to Buckingham Palace. Despite the Queen being
in residence, ahead of Saturday’s Trooping the Colour, she made no public appearance and we had to settle for the (perhaps more entertaining) activity of chatting to the stone-faced guards outside.

In all, an enlightening and enjoyable day which we hope will inspire our budding politicians as they look to build on the success of this year’s Student Parliament.
