On Tuesday the 9th of July, 14 Post-16 students from WWEA embarked on an adventure in the vibrant city of Barcelona. For some students this was their first overseas travel experience and even their first time on a plane. The group were met at Barcelona airport by the hostel staff and taken to our accommodation, which was very beautiful and reflected the cosmopolitan nature of Barcelona.
During the day staff and students visited lots of exciting and intriguing historical and cultural sites such as Park Guell, Sagrada Familia, Las Ramblas, and Nou Camp. Afternoons were usually spent enjoying the beach culture, relaxing, playing rugby or beach volleyball. In the evenings the group enjoyed socialising in the hostel with travellers from all over the world.
An amazing time was had by all. At the end of the week the students had shared a range of experiences, food, laughter and good times. They gained a real sense of independence from the group activities, socialising in an international environment and navigating the city using the underground rail network. The experience was immensely inspirational for the students with some planning to revisit Barcelona and others considering options to travel and work in other parts of the world.
