Monday July 7th six adventurous boys from West Walsall E-ACT Academy departed for two nights camping in Bala, North Wales, with six boys from Alumwell Juniors.
As we drove through the Welsh countryside to arrive at Pant yr Onnen campsite, the sun shone, red kites circled overhead and the RAF tested their latest aeroplane, the Typhoon above us.
The boys quickly set to work erecting the tents before heading off to explore the site.
On Wednesday, the boys changed places with girls from both schools.
Throughout the week, students participated in Forest School activities, making bows and arrows and tent pegs, visiting Harlech castle and paddling in the sea – a first for some!
Throughout the week, students were commendable for their behaviour and participation in activities; so much so that the campsite wrote to school saying ‘We have just had the pleasure of having some of your students to camp with us this week; they were delightful well-mannered children’.
I would personally like to thank you Ms Gallahan from Alumwell Juniors and also the twenty four students who made this a fantastic week and reaffirmed why I became a teacher.
