World Food Day is a day of action against hunger. On October 16th, people around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger in our lifetime.
To celebrate World Food Day, the World Studies Faculty have created themed lessons to deliver to key stage 3 students, across Geography, History, Religious Studies and Modern Foreign Languages. The canteen also served foods from around the world at lunchtime for all students across the academy to enjoy.
This is what the students thought of the day:
I think the World Food Day lesson in History was very exciting (Said S, Year 7)
The RS lesson was fun. It was about World Food Day, and we had to create a poster around holy water and religious foods. I learned a lot! (Emily M, Year 9)
In Geography, I learned that fair trade looks after farmers and their environment (Tanzila B, Year 8)
