On Wednesday 27th April, a group of year 10 pupils took part in a day of leadership training at Wolverhampton University, Walsall Campus. Students got the chance to take part in one of three activities: Street Cheer, Jump Rope or Ultimate Frisbee. The training day gave pupils an opportunity to try alternative sports/activities with an emphasis on leadership so that these activities could be tried and tested in school with pupils being the ones to lead the delivery of the activities.
The students overall found it to be a great experience and were surprised at just how interesting each activity was. Many are keen to carry these activities on in school and deliver the sessions to other year groups. One pupil commented, “I would definitely consider doing Street Cheer at school and doing an after school club for all years. We also met some other students from different schools who were really nice. We all got along and it was really fun. I would definitely do it again.”
It was a fantastic learning experience for the pupils and it was great to see them representing our school so well.
