World Food Day is a day of action against hunger. On October 16th, people around the world come together to declare their commitment to eradicate hunger in our lifetime. To celebrate World Food Day, the World Studies Faculty have created themed lessons to deliver to key stage 3 students, across Geography, History, Religious Studies and Modern Foreign Languages. The catering team at West Walsall E-ACT Academy recently received the highest ‘five star’ Food Hygiene rating following an inspection by Walsall Council’s Environmental Health Department. The inspection looked at compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures, the physical condition of food preparation areas and the effectiveness of management and control procedures. The catering service is wholly managed and operated by the academy, under Catering Manager Devendar Sarai. A group of 40 year 7 students had a wonderful time at Silver Blades Ice Rink in Cannock recently. The majority of students had never been on ice before, which was clear from the countless horizontal bodies in the first 10 minutes. On the 4th of December nine of West Walsall’s students represented the academy in the KS3 badminton tournament at Willenhall. The team of girls; Amy F, Emily M and Rhianne G won their group stage, losing only one match out of 10 and going on to win the final. The two teams of boys both finished second in their groups going on to compete against each other for the third and fourth positions.
